1. Introduction
VibeTemp LLC ("VibeTemp," "we," "our," or "us") operates Oath, a mobile application that helps users keep commitments to themselves through Apple Screen Time enforcement, daily progress tracking, and an optional accountability partnership with another user. This Privacy Policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.
2. Information We Collect
Oath may collect or process the following types of information depending on which features you use:
- Account and identity information: if you create an account, we process your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an authentication token from that provider to verify your identity — we do not receive your Apple or Google password. We also assign a stable device identifier and a push notification device token to your device.
- Progress and activity information: your streaks, XP, rank, daily check-ins, and daily logs, including whether a day was clean, a slip was reported, or verification was missing. If you report a slip, we store the optional message you write, along with your task and habit completion history. Journal and notebook entries you write are stored only on your device and are never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
- Screen Time and protection settings: the apps, app categories, and websites you choose to block are stored as opaque identifiers provided by Apple's Screen Time frameworks — not as browsing history or app content. We also store your protection mode selections (permanent blocking, Locked In mode, scheduled blocking windows, daily time limits, adult-content filtering) and your device's Screen Time authorization status.
- Accountability partner information: if you pair with a partner, we store the pairing relationship, invite tokens, partner-controlled rule settings, and rule-change requests and their resolution. See "Information Shared With Your Accountability Partner" below for what this means for you specifically.
- Push notification information: your device's push notification token and a record of notifications sent to your device.
- Payment information: subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We receive your subscription tier and status from Apple; we do not receive or store your payment card details.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Provide and operate Oath's features, including check-ins, streaks, XP, tasks, and habits.
- Enforce the Screen Time protections and schedules you configure.
- Enable accountability partnerships, including sharing the specific information described below with your paired partner.
- Send push notifications relevant to your account and any accountability partnership.
- Process subscriptions through Apple and provide the features associated with your plan.
- Maintain the global leaderboard using your display name, XP, and streak data.
- Detect and respond to tampering, abuse, or attempts to circumvent Oath's protections.
4. Information Shared With Your Accountability Partner
Oath's core feature is an optional accountability partnership between two users. If you choose to pair with a partner, some of your information becomes visible to them, and vice versa. Specifically, your partner may see:
- Whether your device's Screen Time protection is active, and if it has been turned off or tampered with.
- Whether your app is active and when you last checked in.
- Slip reports you submit, including any optional message you write.
- Urge alerts you choose to send.
- Whether you reinstalled the app.
Depending on how your partnership is configured, your partner may also set rules (such as blocking configuration) that are applied to your device, and you will be notified when a rule change is requested, approved, or denied, including any message included with that response.
Ending an accountability partnership counts as a slip in your own progress (an XP penalty and streak reset), and your partner will be notified before the partnership is removed.
5. Third-Party Service Providers
We use the following third-party service providers to operate Oath:
- Supabase — our backend database, authentication, and server infrastructure provider, which stores the account, pairing, and progress data described above.
- Apple — provides Sign in with Apple, in-app purchase processing through StoreKit, push notification delivery through the Apple Push Notification service, and the Screen Time frameworks (Family Controls, Managed Settings, Device Activity) that power Oath's blocking features.
- Google — provides Google Sign-In for users who choose to authenticate with a Google account.
These providers may process information according to their own privacy policies.
6. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal information. Other than the accountability-partner sharing and service-provider processing described above, we may share information only when necessary to:
- Operate the app through trusted service providers.
- Comply with legal obligations or valid legal requests.
- Protect the rights, safety, and security of users, VibeTemp LLC, or the public.
- Investigate abuse, fraud, security incidents, or violations of our policies.
We do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and we do not use your information for third-party advertising purposes.
7. Data Retention
We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Oath, maintain security, and comply with legal obligations. Local task and habit data older than 30 days is automatically removed from your device. Journal entries remain on your device only and are never synced. If you reinstall Oath, your local progress (streaks, XP, and check-in history) is not recoverable — your account and authentication session may persist, but progress data does not restore from our servers. Certain short-lived records (such as duplicate-notification prevention for reinstall, tamper, and urge alerts) are retained on our servers only briefly, typically under an hour.
8. Your Rights and Choices
You can:
- Manage notification permissions at any time through your device settings.
- Disconnect from your accountability partner at any time, understanding this is treated as a slip as described above.
- Contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information.
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request access to or deletion of that information, request correction of inaccurate information, and opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — though we do not sell or share personal information as described above. You will not be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar protections, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase your personal information, restrict or object to certain processing, request data portability, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We process your information on the basis of the necessity to perform our contract with you (providing Oath's features), our legitimate interests (such as security and abuse prevention), and your consent where required.
9. Children's Privacy
Oath is not intended for children under 13, and by using Oath you represent that you are at least 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
10. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect information, including storing authentication credentials in your device's Keychain and storing Screen Time selections as opaque tokens rather than raw content. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. International Users
If you access Oath from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other locations where our service providers operate. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for these transfers.
12. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes are posted means the updated policy applies.
